As COVID-19 showed up, pandemics cause tremendous harm in the world. Every year new biothreats emmerge and threaten our safety. Yet the next pandemic may be preventable. At BRITE Institute, we research infection risk control strategies.

As a volunteer biosecurity research assistant, you’ll support ongoing projects focused on pandemic preparedness, controlling infectious disease transmission, and public health policy. Your work will contribute to real-world efforts to reduce global vulnerability and save millions of lives.

You’ll join a research team led by experts from top institutions in conducting activities such as literature reviews, policy analysis, data synthesis, or report development on topics.

This position is ideal for students and early-career professionals interested in public health, epidemiology, biodefense, or science policy. Whether you’re pursuing a career in medicine, government, or research, your contributions will help shape a safer, pandemic-resilient future.

Task Availability

Volunteer Tracks

You can choose to join us as a business development volunteer through allthree tracks: as a team member, individual contributor, or as an internship.Details of the requirements for each three tracts are listed below:

Team Member

  • No experience required
  • Free training and education
  • Opportunity for authorship

Individual Contributor

  • Prior experience in research required
  • Freedom to choose projects as your schedule allow

Internship

  • Five-week internship, with a minimum commitment of 5 hours a week
  • Free training and education
  • No experience required

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize scientific or policy literature
  • Critical thinking and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and able to manage independent work
  • Familiarity with research methods or data analysis tools is a plus but not required
