Those working in national security frequently face life and death events, where the right decisions and correct actions are critical. At BRITE Institute, we know better risk management can improve outcomes and protect the lives of those who put their lives on the line for us.

As a volunteer research assistant, you’ll join a project focused on strengthening risk practices in defense and security policy.

You will work on a research project led by scholars from top institutions like Oxford, Cambridge, and Stanford. You will collaborate to tasks such as as literature reviews, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and the development of reports or policy briefs that may shape future government action.

Task Availability

Volunteer Tracks

You can choose to join us as a business development volunteer through all three tracks: as a team member, individual contributor, or as an internship. Details of the requirements for each three tracts are listed below:

Team Member

  • No experience required
  • Free training and education
  • Opportunity for authorship

Individual Contributor

  • Prior experience in research is required
  • Freedom to choose projects as your schedule allows

Internship

  • Five-week internship, with a minimum commitment of 5 hours a week
  • Free training and education
  • No experience required

Requirements

  • Interested in political science and/or public policy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Attentive to detail and committed to producing high-quality work
  • Able to collaborate effectively in a research team environment
  • Familiarity with defense is highly appreciated, but not necessary
